bauhaus-glass-ceiling-light-with-round-shade-on-a-black-or-gold-base
Bauhaus Glass Ceiling Light with Round Shade on a Black or Gold Base

A Bauhaus-inspired ceiling light: a round disc of colored glass set on a short black or gold base, with a soft globe of light hanging just below it. It takes the place of a bare bulb or a tired frosted dome in a hallway, on a landing or over a bed, and turns the plainest fitting in the room into something you actually chose.

No bare bulb glaring down the stairs. No dated dome collecting dust. One clean circle on the ceiling, in the color you picked.

A plain circle, done properly

Bauhaus-inspired ceiling lights keep to the simplest shapes and let the color do the rest of the work. Here that means a flat glass disc 9.4 inches across and only 2 inches deep, a neat cylinder of a ceiling base above it, and nothing else to catch the eye.

Because the shade is so shallow, the whole fitting sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging down into the room. That suits a hallway or a bedroom with an ordinary ceiling height, where a pendant would be in the way and a flat panel would look like an office. Switched off in daylight, it still reads as a piece of design rather than a light you are waiting to replace.

Warm, neutral or cool, from the same fitting

The light source is an integrated LED with three color temperatures, so you can choose a warm glow for the evening, a neutral white for everyday use, or a crisp cool white when you need to see clearly. You are not stuck with whatever tone a bulb happened to come in.

It is sized for a smaller space, lighting an area of roughly 54 to 108 square feet. That covers an entryway, a corridor, a landing, a study or a compact bedroom, and two of them along a long hallway look deliberate rather than repetitive.

Which of the eight to pick

Start with the base. Black is the quieter choice and blends into most rooms, while gold adds a little warmth and works nicely with brass handles, warm wood and cream walls.

Then the glass. White is the most restrained and suits a calm, neutral room. Yellow and pink bring a soft wash of color to a white ceiling, and both look especially good in a hallway or a bedroom where the light is the only color overhead. Green is a tinted glass you can see the fitting through, the boldest of the four and the one that feels most like a mid-century piece. Whichever pair you choose, the circle on the ceiling is the first thing people notice when they walk in.

Specifications

Type: Ceiling light with a round glass shade

Style: Bauhaus-inspired, minimalist

Colors: Black and White, Black and Green, Black and Yellow, Black and Pink, Gold and White, Gold and Green, Gold and Yellow, Gold and Pink (ceiling base first, then glass shade)

Materials: Iron, glass and acrylic

Shade material: Glass

Shade dimensions: 9.4 in across x 2 in deep (24 x 5 cm)

Ceiling base dimensions: 4.7 in across x 2.6 in tall (12 x 6.5 cm)

Light source: Integrated LED

Color temperature: Three settings, warm, neutral and cool white

Wattage: 7W

Lighting area: About 54 to 108 sq ft (5 to 10 m²)

Voltage: AC 90-260V

Installation: Surface mounted to the ceiling

Use: Indoor

Rooms: Entryway, hallway, landing, bedroom, study, living room

Package Includes

1x Bauhaus Glass Ceiling Light

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0966/9430/5064/files/0555-01-black-and-white-ceiling-light-studio.jpg?v=1792185649
https://ridgewellliving.com/en-au/products/bauhaus-glass-ceiling-light-with-round-shade-on-a-black-or-gold-base
