matte-cutlery-set-in-black-gold-or-rose-gold-30-piece-service-for-5
Matte Cutlery Set in Black, Gold or Rose Gold, 30-Piece Service for 5

A 30-piece matte cutlery set for five, in black, gold or rose gold. Every place gets six pieces in the same slim, minimal shape, a dinner knife, fork and spoon followed by a dessert fork, a dessert spoon and a teaspoon, so the table is laid properly from the first course right through to coffee.

No odd strays from the back of the drawer. No rinsing a dinner fork halfway through the meal. No mirror shine competing with the food.

Six pieces at every place, not the usual four

Most everyday sets stop at four or five pieces a setting, which works fine until dessert arrives and everyone reaches for the spoon they have already used. This set gives each of the five places its own dessert fork and dessert spoon, both a size down from the dinner pieces, plus a small teaspoon for coffee or tea.

The dinner knife has fine serrations toward the tip for steak and roast meat. The forks have four tines, and every spoon has a round bowl rather than a long oval, which keeps the six shapes looking like one deliberate family on the table.

The dinner pieces are full size, at 8.3 to 8.7 inches long, and the dessert pieces sit at 7.3 inches, so nothing looks undersized beside a dinner plate.

A matte finish that lets the color do the work

Instead of a mirror polish, every piece has a soft, low sheen, so the color reads as color rather than as reflections of the room. Close up, the gold shows a fine brushed texture that catches candlelight gently instead of flashing.

The handles are long and slim and taper toward the end, which is where the minimal look comes from. Every piece is 18/0 stainless steel, the same steel all the way through the set.

Black, Gold or Rose Gold, and where each one works

Black is the sharpest of the three and looks striking on white plates, though it is just as at home on dark stoneware and a bare wooden table. Gold is warmer and suits cream linen, candles and a dinner that is meant to feel like an occasion.

Rose Gold is the softest, a pink-copper tone that sits well with blush, terracotta and natural wood. Whichever you choose, all 30 pieces match, and the table looks finished before the food arrives.

Specifications

Type: Cutlery set, service for 5

Pieces: 30 in total, 6 per place setting

Material: 18/0 stainless steel

Finish: Matte

Colors: Black, Gold, Rose Gold

Knife: Fine serrations toward the tip

Forks: Four tines

Dinner knife dimensions: 8.7 in (22 cm) long

Dinner fork dimensions: 8.5 in (21.5 cm) long

Dinner spoon dimensions: 8.3 in (21 cm) long

Dessert fork dimensions: 7.3 in (18.5 cm) long

Dessert spoon dimensions: 7.3 in (18.5 cm) long

Teaspoon dimensions: 5.1 in (13 cm) long

Dinner knife, fork and spoon weight: 1.4 oz (40 g) each

Dessert fork and dessert spoon weight: 0.7 oz (20 g) each

Teaspoon weight: 0.4 oz (10 g)

Care

Wash the pieces in warm water with a little detergent before you use them for the first time.
