grooved-scraper-doormat-with-arc-or-lattice-pattern-and-non-slip-backing
Grooved Scraper Doormat with Arc or Lattice Pattern and Non Slip Backing

A doormat with its pattern built into the surface as grooves rather than printed on top, so the design you chose is also the part that cleans your shoes. Pick sweeping arcs or a neat raised lattice, in brown, gray or black. It looks like a choice, not an afterthought.

No coir bristles tracked down the hall. No slogan. No pattern that is only ink. Lay it down, step across it, and the grit stays at the door.

The pattern is the part doing the work

Every line you can see on this mat is a raised rib of polyester fiber with a narrow groove running beside it. When a shoe crosses it, the ribs drag at the tread and scrape off the mud, sand and wet leaves that a flat mat lets you carry straight in. The dirt drops into the grooves, below the surface where the next foot lands, instead of sitting on top waiting to be picked up again.

On the Arcs mat the ribs run in every direction at once. That matters more than it sounds. A tall arch, straight bands up the side and a second arch lying on its side mean a sole meets ridges going across it whichever way you walk in. The Lattice does the same job in a finer net of short raised ribs around sunken triangles, all held inside a plain border.

About 7 mm thick, so it sits where a door swings

The commonest problem with a doormat is not dirt. It is a door that catches on it, drags it along the floor and leaves it rucked up in the corner. This one is low, at roughly a quarter of an inch. Its slim edge keeps it flat to the floor rather than standing up as a lip.

Underneath is a non-slip backing in a rubber and vinyl blend that grips tile, wood and stone without leaving marks behind. It stays put. If your door already brushes the floor, measure the gap first, because no mat fits under a door with no room at all.

Arcs or Lattice, and which color for which door

The Arcs pattern is the bolder of the two, a modern graphic that reads from across the hall and suits a plain front door, a glass patio door or a minimal entryway. The Lattice is quieter and more traditional, a small repeat with a border that sits well on a porch, under a paneled door or beside a busy floor tile.

Brown is the forgiving one outside, because dried mud and sand disappear into it. Gray keeps a cooler hallway calm. Black gives the grooves their strongest shadow in bright light. The Small suits a single door or a back step, and the Large fills a wider entrance or a patio door.

It works indoors and out, so the same mat can live on the porch through the wet weather and inside the hall the rest of the year, doing the same job in both places.

Specifications

Small dimensions: 18 x 30 in (45 x 75 cm)

Large dimensions: 24 x 35 in (60 x 90 cm)

Thickness: About 0.3 in (7 mm)

Patterns: Arcs, Lattice

Colors: Brown, Gray, Black

Material: 100% polyester

Surface: Raised ribs with grooves between them, in one color

Arcs pattern: A tall arch, straight vertical and horizontal bands and a sideways arch, with a narrow plain edge

Lattice pattern: Short raised ribs in a star-shaped repeat around recessed triangles, inside a plain border band

Backing: Non-marking rubber and vinyl blend, non-slip

Profile: Low, with a slim edge

Shape: Rectangular

Construction: Machine made

Features: Non-slip, fade resistant, wrinkle resistant

Use: Indoor and outdoor, front doors, back doors, patio doors, entryways and hallways

Care

Shake it out or vacuum it regularly to lift loose dirt out of the grooves.
