A run of small white heads on a fine clear wire, each one with a crooked face and a black bow tie, and each one lit from the inside by its own warm LED. Hang it along a mantel, a shelf or the top of a window, run it from a battery box or a USB port, and it looks the part whether it is glowing or not.
No color-changing cycle. No bare bulbs on a green cable. No plain white balls that only make sense after dark.
Most Halloween lighting is only decoration for a few hours a day
Think about when the house is actually looked at in October. It is the afternoon, when the children come home from school, and the weekend, when people drop by, and most of that happens in daylight with every string in the house switched off. A plain white fairy light in daylight is a row of small plastic dots on a wire, and nobody can tell it was ever meant for Halloween.
This one carries the look with or without power. The faces and bow ties are solid black on white, so at three in the afternoon you still see a row of little characters hanging off the mantel. Switch them on at dusk and the same faces are lit from behind.
A face, a bow tie, and a glow that comes from inside the head
Each one is a round white ball about two inches across. The face on the front is deliberately lopsided, with one eye a long pointed teardrop and the other a fuller oval, a thin brow line over each, two small slits for a nose and a short stitched mouth. Under the chin sits a glossy black bow tie with fanned, wing-like ends, about as wide as the ball.
The LED sits inside, so the whole ball glows a warm yellow that deepens toward the edges while the face and bow tie stay crisp and black against it. That contrast is what keeps the faces readable after dark. Lay the run along a table instead and a head or two will sit up on its bow tie among the bowls of sweets.
Which one to pick
The battery versions go anywhere, because nothing runs back to the wall. That makes them the choice for a banister, a bookcase or the middle of a party table. The USB versions suit a spot near a charger or a plug adapter, where you would rather not think about batteries for the whole season. On the three and six meter lengths, the battery box also has a flash mode.
The 1.5 meter string with 10 heads fits a single mantel or window. The 3 meter with 20 covers a doorway or a long shelf, and the 6 meter with 40 will take a whole banister. Put it up at the start of October, and the house already feels like Halloween before you have switched anything on.
