Faux fox fur runs down this throw in soft ridges, each one tipped darker at the ends the way a real pelt shades, and the underside is a smooth velvet plush that feels just as good against your arm. Two layers, so there is no wrong side to grab

Most fur throws are fur on top and a flat lining underneath, which is fine until you pull one over your legs and the cold, slippery side ends up against your skin. This one is built as two layers: the faux fur face, and a milk velvet back with a short, soft pile of its own. Whichever way up it lands, your hands find something soft.

Over a chair back it falls into deep folds, and on a made bed it settles in loose ridges of fur rather than lying flat like a sheet.

Faux fur that shades the way the real thing does

The fur grows in long rows, and every row is lighter at the root and darker at the tip. That is what gives it depth. Up close you see the separate strands and the color change along them, and from across the room it reads as stripes of light and shadow running down the throw.

It is all faux. Nothing about it needs the care a real pelt would, and it can go in the washing machine.

Four colors, five sizes, and what each one suits

Silver is bright white fur with charcoal-black tips, the boldest of the four, and it stands out against a gray sofa or dark bedding. White is a soft cream with faint warm tips that only show when you look closely, so it suits a pale bedroom. Taupe is a light greige with brown-tipped stripes, and Caramel is cream shading to warm golden caramel. In the photographs, White and Silver have the longer, shaggier fur, and Taupe and Caramel a shorter, sleeker one.

The Extra Small and Small sizes make a lap throw for one person on the sofa. Long is a narrow runner that crosses the foot of a bed from side to side. Large and Extra Large are wide enough to cover the top of a bed or wrap two people on the couch. Silver, White and Caramel come in all five; Taupe comes in Extra Small, Large and Extra Large.
