A small pagoda lantern in stone-look resin, with a solar panel set into one slope of its roof. In daylight it sits in the garden like an old weathered stone. After dark, the light inside shines out through the grid of open windows in its walls and lays small squares of light across the gravel or paving around it.
No cable to bury. No outlet to find. Nothing to switch on each evening. Set it where the roof catches the sun, and it lights up by itself as the evening comes in and goes off again at dawn.
It looks like stone in the daytime, which is half the point
Most solar garden lights are made to disappear during the day: a black stake, a plastic cap, a panel on a stick. This one is meant to be looked at. The body is resin with a rough, speckled finish in a soft gray-green, close to the color of an old garden stone with a little moss on it.
The roof is hipped and curls up at every corner, with a round finial on top. Below it, three rows of square windows are cut right through the walls, and the whole lantern stands on short corner feet with an arch between them. At noon it reads as a garden ornament, and at night it becomes the light.
A soft glow, not a floodlight
It is worth being clear about what you are getting. The light is a built-in LED of up to 1 watt, putting out under 60 lumens. That is enough to fill the windows with a warm glow and to cast that pattern of squares on the ground, and enough to mark the corner of a flower bed or the edge of a step so it does not disappear at night.
It will not light a path well enough to walk by, and it is not meant to. Think of it the way you would think of a candle in a stone lantern: something to look at, not something to see by. With the roof in a sunny spot it runs for up to 8 hours, and it is rated IP65 against dust and water, so it can stay out through the rain.
Where it looks best
At the edge of a gravel bed among ferns and hostas. On the corner of a low wall or the cap of a gate pillar. Beside the back step where you sit out after dinner, or next to a small pond where the lit windows show in the water. It stands 8.7 inches tall, so it works best where you see it from a few steps away rather than from across the lawn, and a shady corner will give the panel less to work with than an open one.
Put it down once in the right spot, and the garden has something quiet to look at long after the sun has gone.
