A ceiling fan and a dimmable LED light in one body, on the same screw base as an ordinary light bulb. Take the bulb out of the ceiling socket, screw this in where it was, and the room gets a soft breeze and a light you can warm up or cool down, all from one remote, without anyone running new wires.

No electrician. No bracket drilled into the ceiling. No pull chains. Switch the power off at the wall, screw it in, switch it back on.

It goes exactly where the bare bulb was

Most rooms that need a fan already have the one thing this needs, which is a bulb socket in the middle of the ceiling. The silver E27 screw cap on top turns into that socket like any bulb, the six blades open out around the body, and the round frosted shade underneath takes over from the bulb you just took out. There is no canopy to fit and no wiring to touch.

The blades span 20.5 inches, so it wants an open socket with that much clear space around it, not one inside a glass dome or a lampshade. An adapter kit comes in the box for sockets that sit too deep in their fitting. Leave the wall switch on, and from then on the remote does the rest.

One remote for the breeze and the light, separately

The fan and the light run independently, so you can have the breeze with the light off on a warm night, or the light with the fan still. The fan has three speeds, from a soft, even movement of air over the bed to a stronger one across the room, and the six blades spread it wide rather than throwing it in one spot.

The same remote switches the light on and off, dims it smoothly anywhere from 10 to 100 percent, and changes its color. Two timer buttons switch it off by itself after 2 or 4 hours, which is the one you want when you fall asleep with it running. The remote takes a battery, which is not included.

Warm for the evening, cool for getting things done

A single bulb gives a room one kind of light all day. This one has three: a warm 3000K that suits a bedroom or a living room after dark, a natural 4000K for everyday, and a crisp, cool 6000K for a desk, a kitchen or a garage workbench. The LED draws 40 watts and gives about the light of a 100 watt incandescent bulb, so it can replace the main light in a room rather than sit beside it.

It comes in white, which disappears into a white ceiling, or black, which stands out as a clean dark shape against it, with the same frosted white shade on both. Either way, the room gets a fan and a better light from the socket it already had.
