A cordless vacuum sealer about the size of a pepper mill, sold with clear zip bags that each carry a small round valve. You fill the bag, zip it shut, stand the sealer on the valve and press the one button, and it draws the air out and switches itself off when the bag is done.
No machine to haul out of the cupboard. No roll to measure and cut. No cord to find before the leftovers can go away.
Why the big sealer stays in the cupboard
You already know vacuum sealing works. The trouble is the countertop machine that does it, which is heavy, wants a strip of counter and a socket, and makes you cut every bag from a roll and seal both ends before the food goes in. So it comes out for a big shop once in a while, and on an ordinary evening the salmon goes into a regular zip bag instead.
A regular zip bag only gets as much air out as you can squeeze out by hand. Some always stays in, pressed against the food in the corners, and that is the bag you find at the back of the freezer later.
This one comes out of a drawer and needs nothing else, so it gets used on the small jobs too.
One button, and it stops by itself
Put the food in and run your fingers along the zip. Pull the white cap off the end of the sealer, set the black nozzle flat on the white valve and press the button. The film pulls in tight around whatever is inside. When the bag is done, it shuts off on its own, so there is nothing to time. The cap goes back on afterwards, so the nozzle stays clean in the drawer.
The bags come in two sizes, half 1-quart and half 2-quart. The smaller ones suit a handful of herbs or a portion of berries, and the larger ones a couple of salmon fillets or a bag of coffee beans. The sealer is the same in every option, so 10, 20 or 30 is simply how many bags come with it.
The bags are reusable and can go in the freezer, the dishwasher and the microwave. Meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, nuts and coffee all go in the same way, and a sealed bag suits sous vide and meal prep as well as the freezer.
Charged from USB, kept in a drawer
Inside is a 1200 mAh rechargeable battery that charges from a 5V USB plug with the cable in the box. Once charged, there is no cord at the counter at all. You seal at the cutting board, beside the fridge or at the pantry shelf, wherever the food happens to be.
It measures 8 inches tall and 1.8 inches across and weighs 8.3 ounces, which is small enough to lie in a kitchen drawer beside the wooden spoons. That is the real difference from a countertop machine. It lives where you can reach it, so the half pack of chicken gets sealed tonight instead of someday.
