Air conditioners have a compressor, a refrigerant circuit and a hose that carries heat out of the room. This has none of those, and at 5 volts and 2 amps it has nowhere near the power to run one. What it has is a turbine that pushes air through a narrow aperture and a 100ml reservoir that dampens the stream on its way past.

Moving air feels cool because it carries heat off your skin, and damp air stops a fan drying your eyes and throat the way a plain one does on a long evening. That is the whole of it, and it is genuinely pleasant at a desk. It will not lower the temperature of the room.

No blades, which is the reason to pick this one

The air leaves through a slot rather than off the edge of a spinning blade, so the stream arrives steady instead of arriving in pulses, and there is nothing behind the grille for a finger or a curious cat to find. It is also quieter at the same airflow, because most of a small fan's noise is blade edges chopping air.

Six speeds run from a draught you can sleep through up to something you would point at yourself after coming in from outside. The display and the timer sit on the front, and the timer will shut it off overnight.

Desk sized, and it takes its power from the same port as everything else
