Leaf Incense Holder, Metal Ash Catcher in Bronze, Silver, Gold or Green

A single metal leaf, just over eight inches long, that holds one stick of incense in its stem and catches the ash in its shallow curve as the stick burns down. Set it on the coffee table, the bookshelf or the corner of the desk, and it looks like a small piece of decor even on the days nothing is burning in it.

No gray ash dusted across the table. No stick propped in a mug of rice. No plain wooden strip that looks like a ruler with a hole in it.

The ash lands on the leaf, not the furniture

The stick slides into a small hole in the curled stem and leans out over the length of the leaf, so the burning end sits above the dish the whole way down. As it burns, the ash drops straight into the curve and stays there, instead of drifting onto the wood beside it or the books on the shelf.

The leaf is long for a reason. A standard stick reaches out well past the end of most short holders, and the last inch of ash falls off the edge, but here the leaf runs under nearly all of it. When the stick has burned out and the ash has cooled, you tip it into the bin and wipe the leaf with a dry cloth.

Real leaf detail, in metal

The surface is modeled on a real leaf, with a raised midrib running from the stem to the pointed tip and fine side veins branching off it toward the edges. Between the veins the metal has a small pebbled texture that catches the light, so even the plain silver looks alive rather than flat. The edge rises in a gentle wave, the whole leaf sits low on the table, and the stem lifts at one end and finishes in a small rolled curl.

It is made from zinc alloy in one piece, with nothing to assemble and nothing to come loose.

Four finishes, from warm and dark to bright

Bronze is the darkest, a deep brown along the center with warm copper showing on the raised veins, and it sits well on walnut or dark oak. Silver is bright and clean against pale wood, linen or a white bathroom shelf. Gold is a soft champagne gold that warms up marble, stone and light wood. Green has an aged olive-brass finish, darker in the hollows and lighter on the veins, which looks at home next to plants and weathered wood.

Every finish is the same leaf at the same size, so two side by side on a long shelf look like a pair rather than a mismatch, and the one you light every evening becomes the thing your eye goes to when you sit down.
