A round wooden disc on the wall and one slim metal arm curving out beneath it, bent into an open loop that the roll hangs from. It comes in three finishes, walnut with brushed gold, a light natural wood with brushed gold, and the same natural wood with brushed silver, and it measures just 7.3 inches across.

No spring-loaded rod to squeeze between two posts. No end cap to unscrew. The new roll slides straight on from the open end.

Changing the roll takes one hand

Every bathroom has a roll holder, and the moment most of them let you down is the roll change. A spring rod has to be pinched, lined up and wedged back between two posts, usually while you are leaning sideways off the seat, and sooner or later it shoots out of your fingers and across the floor.

This arm is open at one end. The empty tube slides off, a full roll slides on, and that is the whole job. There is nothing to take apart, nothing to line up and nothing that can spring loose, and the end of the bar turns gently upward in a short rounded tip.

Wood and metal, in three finishes

The disc is 2.4 inches across and an inch thick, with its grain running top to bottom across the face. Below it, the arm is a single thin round rod, bent four times with soft rounded corners and finished in brushed metal rather than bright chrome.

Walnut and Gold pairs a deep brown, open-grained walnut with a warm brushed gold, and it looks right against gray plaster, stone tile or a dark wood vanity. Natural and Gold sets the same gold against a pale, fine-grained beech, which suits white tile, light oak and a softer, Scandinavian sort of bathroom. Natural and Silver keeps that light wood and changes the arm to brushed silver, a quieter match for chrome or steel faucets and a white or gray wall.

Small enough for the tightest powder room

At 7.3 inches wide, it fits the narrow strip of wall beside a toilet where a bulkier holder would crowd the tank or the door frame. The whole thing stands only 2.8 inches out from the wall. With the wood above and the curve of the arm around the roll, it reads as a small piece of design rather than one more bit of bathroom hardware.
