Stack two, and the lower one still opens

Most stacking storage only works from the top. That is why the box underneath is the one that never gets used: reaching into it means lifting everything above it first. Here the front is open for almost its full width, down to a low lip that stops jars and packets from sliding out.

Set a second bin squarely on the rim of the first, and the tall gap above a pantry shelf starts doing some work. The lower one stays as easy to reach into as the upper one. That gap usually holds a single row of cans and a lot of empty air, and now it holds two neat layers you can get at from the front.

Four bins, two up and two across

The Set of 4 fills a wider stretch of shelf. Stand two bins side by side, set the other two squarely on top of them, and you have a 2 by 2 block about 20 inches across and 10 inches tall, with all four open fronts facing you. Every bin in the block opens from the front, so the two at the bottom are as easy to reach into as the two on top. Cans in one, jars in another, packets and snack bars in the last two.

The walls are clear plastic all the way round, so you can tell what is in there from across the kitchen. You notice the rice running low before the evening you need it.
