Large ginkgo leaves, each one a wide fan of fine woven lines, spread across this cotton gauze quilt from the pillows to the foot of the bed and overlap like leaves scattered on a garden path. The cloth is three layers of soft cotton gauze, and a wide gray border frames every edge and keeps all that color in order.
Lay it on as the top layer and the bedroom has its centerpiece. Add the matching pillowcases and the whole bed is done.
Leaves big enough to read from the doorway
Most leaf patterns are small and busy, so from across the room they blur into a texture. Not this one. Here each ginkgo fan is drawn large, with every vein picked out in thread, and the leaves are laid in loose, overlapping drifts in three or four colors at a time.
The design is jacquard woven into the cotton rather than printed on top. Up close you can follow the raised lines of each leaf with a fingertip, and from the door the whole quilt reads as one bold, warm field of color.
Orange on one side, blue on the other
The blue and orange quilt has two finished faces. One side is a bright orange ground with leaves in plum, slate blue and olive; turn it over and the colors swap, with orange and plum leaves scattered across a deep slate blue. Same quilt, two rooms.
Put the orange up when the room needs warmth, or the blue for a calmer, darker look. Fold a wide band back over the pillows and both sides show at once, edged in the same gray border.
Three layers of soft cotton gauze
The cloth is 100% cotton, woven as three layers of gauze. It drapes softly over the sides of a mattress instead of standing stiff, and it falls into relaxed folds over the foot of the bed.
On a warm night it can be the only cover you need. When the house cools down, lay it over the duvet and push it aside if you get too warm.
Choosing the color, the size and the set
Blue and orange is the bolder of the two, with the two-faced design described above. Rose sets orange, mauve and soft green leaves on a dusty coral-pink ground, a warmer and quieter look that suits a pale bedroom.
The quilt comes in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large, with the exact measurements in the specifications below. Choose the quilt on its own, the quilt with two matching pillowcases, or the pair of pillowcases by itself if you already have the quilt. However you choose, the leaves are the first thing anyone notices when they walk in.
