Six big daisies are woven edge to edge across this throw. Muted teal green petals circle rust-colored centers on a soft off-white ground. Turn it over and the same flowers come back in reverse, pale petals on a dark charcoal ground, so there is never a wrong side left showing.

At 51 by 63 inches, it is sized for the sofa, an armchair or the foot of the bed. It covers one person from the shoulders to the knees, and when you get up it folds away in a few seconds.

Woven into the cloth, not printed on top

A printed throw is plain fabric with ink on one face, and the back is usually blank. Here the colored yarns cross each other to build every petal and every center. The pattern runs right through the cloth. Nothing sits on the surface waiting to fade or rub off, and up close you can see the fine twill of the yarns catching the light across each flower.

The daisies are drawn large, with only about two across the width. That scale keeps them clear and graphic from the far side of the room, where a small print would blur into texture.

Flip a corner and the colors swap

Fold a corner back over the sofa arm and the reverse shows the same flowers in inverted colors, light petals on a deep charcoal ground. A turned-down edge looks deliberate rather than rumpled, and you never have to check which face is up before you spread it out. Both sides are worth showing.

A fringe on every edge, in two different yarns

The two short ends finish in a dense salt-and-pepper fringe of charcoal and white, just past a narrow gray woven band. Along the long sides the fringe is looser and mixes soft peach, pink, mint and cream, which picks up the gentler tones in the room around it. Both kinds hang loose, never knotted.

Sized for the sofa, the armchair and the end of the bed

Drape it over the back of an armchair and let it fall down one arm, or fold it lengthwise into a band of pattern across the foot of a double bed. On the sofa it becomes the one you pull over your knees with a book on a cold evening. The polyester and cotton blend has enough weight to stay put on a sofa arm instead of sliding off every time someone stands up. It still rolls up small enough to carry out to the garden for a picnic.

It is a throw, not a bedspread. Leave it folded over the arm of the sofa and the daisies are the first thing you see when you walk into the room.

Care

Machine wash it cold on a gentle cycle, on its own or with other soft items, and keep it away from anything with a zip or a hook, which can snag the weave. No hot water, no bleach and no dry cleaning.

Shake it out well before drying, then dry it flat or over a rack. If you use a dryer, keep the heat low.
