A slotted base, so the water leaves before the scum starts

The floor of each shelf is one flat aluminum plate cut through with rows of short slots, so the water that runs off a bottle after a shower drops straight through it instead of pooling underneath. That keeps the bottom of every bottle out of standing water, which is where the slippery film and the gray ring usually begin. A curved rail runs around the whole front edge, and a bottle knocked by an elbow or the shower door stays on the shelf.

Wire corner caddies tend to fail at a weld. The chrome plating chips, water gets under it to the steel, and before long a streak of rust runs down the grout. This one is aluminum, which has no iron in it to rust, and the base is a single plate rather than a lattice of welded wire that catches hair.

Up on the wall in a minute, with or without a drill

Each shelf hangs on two wall plates, one on each side of the corner. Peel the backing and press them onto the tile. Slide the shelf on, screw the two caps down, and the shelf is up without a single hole. The adhesive holds on glazed ceramic or porcelain tile, glass shower screens, sealed acrylic or fiberglass surrounds and smooth tile paint. It struggles on textured stone, split-face tile, mosaic that is mostly grout and flaking paint, and on those walls the screws and wall plugs in the box are the better choice.

Two small steps decide whether it stays up. Wipe the spot with rubbing alcohol rather than bathroom spray, which leaves a film the adhesive cannot grip, and press each plate firmly for thirty seconds. Then leave the shelf empty for a full day before you load it.

One shelf or two, black or silver

The 1 Tier is a single shelf, enough for one person's shampoo, conditioner, body wash and razor, and a good fit for a guest bathroom where you would like the wall to stay mostly clear. The 2 Tier is two of the same shelf, hung one above the other at whatever gap your tallest bottles need, which suits a shared shower where the bottles have a habit of multiplying.

Black is an even matte, nearer charcoal than gloss, and it draws one clean dark line across white tile or sits quietly beside matte black taps. Silver is brushed aluminum with a soft satin sheen rather than a mirror shine, so it settles in next to chrome fittings. Either way, everything you use in the shower is off the floor and within reach.

Care

Wipe it with a damp cloth. For hard-water film, use a little white vinegar on a cloth, then rinse it off. Avoid abrasive pads and bleach-based scrubs, which dull the finish.
