A wall clock whose outline has started to melt: a soft black and cream round that swells out on the right and sags into one rounded drop at the lower right, as if it had been hung a little too close to the fire. It runs on a silent quartz movement, and it comes with a black ring pendulum that swings beneath it, or without one if you prefer it plain.
No ticking. No glass over the face. No second hand sweeping round.
Hung for the way it looks, read for the time
You already know what a clock is for, and almost any of them will tell you the time. The harder thing is finding one that gives a wall something to look at, because most of what is on offer is a plain circle behind glass, bought for the numbers and nothing else.
This one works the other way round. From across the room the warped black band reads as a graphic shape, closer to a print or a mirror than to a kitchen timepiece, and the time is right there whenever you look for it. It suits a hallway, a living room or a study, anywhere a stretch of bare wall could use one strong shape.
Two layers, twelve numbers and one deliberate drip
It is built in two flat layers of MDF and acrylic. A deep matte black board is cut to the warped outline, and a warm cream face cut to the same shape sits on top of it, a little proud, so an even black band runs all the way round. Only the outline is warped; the whole thing hangs flat against the wall like a picture.
The twelve numerals are set in a tall, high-contrast serif, and each one leans at its own angle, as though the warp had pulled them along with it. The 12 and the 6 stand straight, while the 9 and the 10 have nearly tipped onto their sides.
Two slim leaf-shaped hands turn from a small mustard yellow center dot, a black one for the hours and an off-white one for the minutes. With no glass in front, nothing catches the light from a window and the face stays matte from every angle.
Quiet enough for the bedroom wall
The quartz movement is silent, so the hands move round without a tick and nobody lies awake counting seconds. That makes it easy to live with above a headboard, beside a reading chair or in a study where you want the room to stay quiet. It runs on AA batteries, which are not included.
With the pendulum, or without
The With Pendulum style adds a flat off-white rod and a black ring that hang beneath it, and once its batteries are in, the ring swings gently from side to side on a movement of its own. It becomes the one moving thing in the room, which is why it looks best on a hallway or living room wall with clear space beneath it. This style takes two AA batteries.
The Without Pendulum style is the clock alone, a little calmer, and it fits more easily over a desk, a console or a bed where there is less wall to spare. Both come in Small and Large, and the exact figures are in the specifications.
Whichever you pick, the wall gets one strong shape, and the time is there every time you glance up.
