This tall hamper is made from soft rope laid in rows, with a rope handle rising on each side of the rim. It holds a full load of laundry and looks good enough to leave standing in the open, so the clothes have somewhere to go that suits the room.

Each row of rope rests on the row below and is stitched to it, all the way up from the base. At a distance the walls show as fine level ribs. Step closer and the texture of the rope comes through, along with the small stitches that run along every seam.

The outline is a soft barrel rather than a straight tube. It widens a little through the middle and narrows again toward the top and the bottom, which gives it a rounder, calmer shape than the hard corners of a plastic bin.

Both handles are loops of the same rope, stitched flat to the outside just under the rim and standing a few inches clear of it. It looks right next to a bed, among the towels in a bathroom, or beside the washer in the laundry room.

Tan, White or Black, to suit the room it lives in

Tan is a light, warm sand shade that sits easily with pale wood floors, linen and oatmeal tones. White is clean and soft, and keeps a bright bedroom or bathroom feeling calm and uncluttered.

Black is the bold one. It makes a strong dark shape against light floors and white bedding. Any of the three gives the laundry a home of its own.
