This is a muslin cotton blanket made from four layers of soft, crinkled gauze, in one solid color with a wide white band bound around every edge. Spread it over the bed as a light top layer, or pull it across your lap on the sofa when the evening turns cool.
There is no fill inside it and no fleece on the surface. The warmth comes from the layers themselves, with air held between thin sheets of cotton. It feels light in your hands, and it still gives you an extra layer over a duvet or across your knees.
Layers of gauze instead of padding
A single layer of muslin is a loose, open weave you could almost read through. Put four of them together and the air caught between the layers does the job that padding does in a thicker blanket, without the bulk or the weight.
The weave stays open, so it breathes and does not have the sealed-in feel of a synthetic throw. Nothing is brushed up on the surface either. There is no pile to crush flat and no fleece face to pill.
A crinkle that is meant to be there
The cloth is softly puckered all over, and a fine grid of lines runs across it where the layers come together. It comes out of the wash crinkled, and that is the point: the pucker is the texture of the gauze, not a crease you need to press out.
Washing makes it softer, too. The weave relaxes a little more each time and the layers settle into each other, so it goes from crisp to properly broken in over the first month or so.
Eight solid colors, each edged in white
The same white band runs around every color and shows on both faces, so a corner folded back over the foot of the bed still looks finished. Both sides of the cloth are the same shade.
Gray, Beige and Cream are the quiet neutrals, and Brown is the deepest of the set, the one for darker rooms and leather sofas. Rust is a reddish brown, Coral a warm rose and Pink its paler version, while Sage is a soft gray-green that looks its best in a bright bedroom.
One size for the sofa, one for the bed
Small is the one that stays folded over the arm of the sofa and comes out for a lap, a nap or the spare bed. Large covers a whole bed with enough left over each side that it stays put when someone rolls over, and the exact measurements for both are in the specifications below.
Whichever you pick, it is a blanket that gets better the more you wash it.

Care
Machine wash it cool, on its own or with other soft cottons. Keep it away from zips, hooks and Velcro, which can snag the open weave, and use a plain detergent with no fabric softener and no bleach.
Tumble dry on low, or hang it to dry. Avoid high heat, which can shrink the layers unevenly.
