Ten signs come in one pack, every one of them a different board with a different message, and three of them cut to a point so they work as arrows. Put the first at the gate and the last at the door, and a guest gets walked up the path rather than just looking at it.
No batteries. No cable. Nothing to switch on. Tape them up one afternoon and forget about them until November.
One sign is a decoration. Ten of them are a route
A single Happy Halloween board on the front door gets read in a second and then ignored, and that is all it will ever do. Ten of them spread along a drive do something a single sign cannot. A guest meets one at the gate, another halfway up, a third at the step, and by the time they knock they have been led somewhere on purpose.
The ten are genuinely ten. There is a green board with a haunted house under a full moon, a set of split planks that says get out, a nailed board that says monsters, and a lilac one covered in red handprints that says trick or treat. Five of them say Happy Halloween, and all five are a different board in a different color with different artwork on it. Three are cut to a point, so you can send people left or right instead of only announcing the date.
Printed card, which is why the whole set goes up in ten minutes
These are paperboard, printed to look like weathered painted planks, down to a nail head on one of them and a split running through another. None of it is wood and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. What the card buys you is everything that happens next, because a sign that weighs almost nothing goes up with tape or a tack on a post, a fence panel, a door, a banister or a plain wall. Nothing gets drilled. Nothing gets screwed into anything you still have to own in November.
Card and rain are not friends, and that is worth saying out loud about a product everybody photographs on a lawn. Indoors they will last as long as you want them to. Outside, keep them somewhere covered, or put them out in the morning and bring them in at night. A dry October week is fine, and a wet one is not.
A post is one of the places these go, not the only one
Ten signs is what arrives, and the posts are not included. Put them on a post if you have one, because a run of them down a batten driven into the lawn is the version that lines a whole drive up at once. Skip the post and nothing about the set changes. A fence rail takes them, and so does a gatepost, a downpipe, a banister or the stair rail in the hall, and a front door takes them on its own.
Outdoors most of the set is obvious enough, on the path, the gate and the porch. Indoors the set goes a good deal further than most people expect. Two on the hall wall and one on the kitchen door turn a house into a route, and a corridor at work will swallow the whole ten without anybody having to hang anything properly. Put them up at the start of October and the house tells everyone what is coming.
