A softer shape than the usual circle

Most wall clocks are a circle, and most of the rest are a hard-edged square. This one sits between the two: a square with deeply rounded corners and gently curved sides, so it has the weight of a square on the wall and none of the sharpness. It is the shape people notice first, and it looks at home in a mid-century living room, a calm Japandi bedroom or a plain modern kitchen.

The dark brown frame carries a walnut-look grain and runs all the way round as a wide band. Inside it, the face is a warm cream with fine flecks through it, like a sheet of heavy textured paper, and a clear glossy top layer covers it and catches the light in a bright room.

Four numbers, eight marks and two wooden hands

The face keeps only what you need to read the time at a glance. The 12, 3, 6 and 9 are printed large in a squared, bold black type, and a short black bar marks each of the other hours, so the layout reads clearly from across the room without a crowded ring of minute marks.

The hour and minute hands are slim, tapered wooden blades in a deep brown that matches the frame. There is no second hand at all, which is half of why the room stays still. Nothing on the face moves fast enough to catch your eye, and the quartz movement behind it is built to run without a tick.

Each one is a thin board about 5 mm thick, light enough to hang from a single nail or hook through the slot on the back, and it runs on one AA battery, sold separately. Hang it once, and the wall gets a warm, quiet focal point that never asks for your attention.
