A stretch jacquard cover for a single recliner, made in four fitted pieces that pull over the backrest, both arms, and the seat and footrest. The chair keeps its own shape and simply changes color, the footrest still comes up, and a pocket on the side holds the remote.
No throw sliding down behind your back. No loose fabric bunching in the seat. Pull each piece on and sit down.
A recliner is four shapes, so the cover comes in four pieces
A recliner is not a sofa with a lever. The backrest leans back, the footrest swings up from under the seat and the arms stay put, so anything laid over the whole chair has to cope with three parts moving at once. A single sheet of fabric either pulls tight the moment you lean back or gets dragged off the arms when your feet go up.
This cover is split along the same lines as the chair. One piece goes over the backrest, one over each arm, and the last runs across the seat and on down the length of the footrest. Each part of the chair moves on its own and its piece of fabric moves with it, so the footrest comes up with the cover still in place.
Stretch knit that follows the chair instead of sitting on top of it
The fabric is a polyester and spandex jacquard knit. The spandex is what lets each piece pull snug over a rounded arm or a squared-off backrest, the way a fitted sheet grips the corner of a mattress, so the outline you see is still the outline of your chair.
The face is a raised basketweave. Short, soft ribs of pile are set in small blocks that turn at right angles to one another, and they stand up from a fine stretch mesh underneath. From across the room it reads as a woven texture rather than a plain stretch cover, and it is soft where your arms rest.
A pocket right where your hand already falls
An open pocket is sewn onto the outside of the left arm, deep enough to hold a paperback upright. The remote, your reading glasses and the TV guide stay by the chair instead of slipping down beside the cushion. There is one pocket, and it comes on every color.
Measure the chair first, then pick the color
It is made for single-seat recliners, and because it stretches it covers a range of sizes rather than one exact chair. Four measurements settle it: how tall the chair stands, how wide the backrest is, how deep the chair is from front to back, and how wide the footrest is. If all four fall inside the ranges in the specifications below, it will go on. Reclining sofas with two or three seats need a different cover.
When it needs a wash, the pieces come off one at a time and go in the machine on a cool cycle.
Ten colors, from quiet neutrals to a deep red
Charcoal, Gray and Black keep the chair low-key and suit a darker room or a leather-look recliner. Taupe, Cream and Brown are warmer, and they look at home beside wood floors, beige walls and pale linen. Navy, Teal and Green are the deeper shades that give the chair more presence, and Burgundy is the boldest of the ten.
Every color is the same four-piece cover with the same pocket and the same basketweave, so the choice is only about the room. Whichever you pick, the chair still reclines the way it always has.
