One screen answers four questions

The time fills most of the screen in tall segmented digits, lit in orange, blue or green. Down the left side the days of the week run from Monday to Sunday, and today lights up in the same color as the time, so the day is never something you have to work out. Along the bottom, in white, sit the temperature in the room and the month and day.

It runs in 12 or 24 hour time and reads the temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, both switched from the buttons on the back. There is a daylight saving setting too, so moving the clock an hour forward or back is one long press rather than a full reset.

Readable from the doorway, dim enough for the bedroom

At 8.5 inches wide the clock is the width of a sheet of letter paper, and most of that width is display. That is what makes it work on a kitchen, office or garage wall, where you want the time from the other side of the room rather than from arm's length.

For a bedroom, the brightness steps down through five levels, or you can leave it on automatic and let it follow the light in the room. There are two separate alarms, each set to ring every day, Monday to Friday, or Monday to Saturday. A snooze covers the mornings that need it.

On the wall or on the desk, and it keeps the time if the power drops

Two keyhole slots on the back hang it flat on a pair of screws, and the flat base stands it upright on a desk, a shelf or a nightstand. The 6.6 foot USB cable gives you room to reach an outlet.

Plugged in, the screen stays on. Three AAA batteries in the back hold the time and your settings if the power goes off. On batteries alone the screen sleeps after ten seconds and wakes again at a clap, a knock or a raised voice, anything above about 60 decibels.
