Bamboo Bathtub Tray, Extendable with Tablet Stand and Wine Glass Holder

A bamboo bathtub tray that slides out from 23.6 to 34.3 inches, so you set it to the width of your own tub instead of guessing at a size. This tray lays a flat bamboo bridge across the tub and gives each of them a spot.

Lift the panel in the middle and it stands up along the back, so a tablet or a book rests on the ribbed bed in front of it and leans back at an easy angle for reading or watching from the water. The stem of a wine glass slides into the round cut-out at the front edge. The glass hangs by its stem with the foot below the tray. A nudge will not tip it. Three slots beside it hold a phone upright, and the two end trays take whatever is left.

It slides to fit your tub, not the other way round

Tubs vary by several inches from one bathroom to the next, and a fixed-width tray is a bet on yours. Closed, this one is 23.6 inches long. The arms at each end slide out to as much as 34.3 inches, and you stop wherever both ends rest on the rim, whether that is a built-in tub with a flat edge or a freestanding one with a rolled lip.

Non-slip strips on the underside keep it from skating about when you reach for the glass. Before you order, measure across the top of your tub from rim to rim and check it falls inside that range. The one bath it does not suit is a tub sunk into a wide tiled deck with no edge to sit across.

Bamboo, because steam is hard on ordinary wood

A cheap pine tray drinks in splashes and steam, and after enough hot baths it swells, cups or splits along the grain. Bamboo is a grass rather than a tree, denser and far less porous than pine, and it holds its shape in a humid room. This tray is made from laminated bamboo strips, the construction that keeps a long flat board from cupping over time.

It still wants a few seconds of attention. Lift it off after the bath, wipe it down and stand it on its end so the underside dries as well. Do that, and the next long bath is already set up before you run the water.

Care

Wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not soak it or run it under the tap, keep it out of the dishwasher, and avoid bleach and abrasive bathroom sprays, which strip the seal.

Between baths, stand it on its end against the wall so the underside can dry. A rub of mineral oil once or twice a year keeps the color even.
