Most garlands arrive bare, and the lights you add later are either too short for the run or too bright and bulky to hide among the needles. This one is sold with a 118-inch LED string, more than half as long again as the 75-inch garland, so you can wind it in and out of the branches from one end to the other instead of stretching it in a straight line along the top.

The wire is fine and bare, so it disappears into the greenery and only the small warm points of light show. With the lights off it is simply a full garland, and once they are on it turns the mantel into the warmest part of the room.

Green or Frosted, and where each one looks right

Green mixes two shades tip by tip, a deep gray-green beside a softer fresh green, the way a real cut bough looks. It suits wood, brass, stone and a traditional mantel, and it sits happily beside red, cream or dusty blue decorations.

Frosted has the same tips with a white snow-like flocking settled on the needles, while the deep green still shows underneath. It looks wintry rather than simply green, so it works well with white walls, silver and glass, and in rooms where the rest of the decorations are pale.

Shape it to the shelf, then pack it away for next year

The garland is made of PE plastic sprigs of fine, straight needles on a brown stem, and the branches bend. After unpacking, fluff the tips out and bend the garland to lie flat along a mantel, trail over the ends of a sideboard or run down the middle of the dining table as a centerpiece.

It is made for indoor use. Keep the garland and the light string away from open flames, candles and direct heat. When the season is over it packs away with the rest of the decorations, and there is nothing to water, nothing to sweep up and nothing to replace before it goes back up the following year.
