No cable for each device. No adapter block behind the bed. Nothing to plug in when you sit down.

The problem was never the charging

Wireless charging has worked properly for years. What nobody solved is the pile it arrives in.

The phone wants a pad. The watch wants its own puck on a lead. The earbuds want a third thing. Each one needs a socket, and there are two behind the bed. So one of the three ends up on the floor. Always the one you want at half past six.

This takes all three at once. The phone lies flat on the left of the base. The dock on the right takes the earbud case on top and the watch on a puck at the front. One cable goes to the wall.

The pad gives a phone up to 10W, and the station 15W in total. It charges through a case up to 5 mm thick, so most cases stay on. Not a metal one, though, and not one with cards tucked in the back.

The clock is behind the cloth

The front panel is woven fabric, stretched over a slab and wrapped around its corners. No glass. No bezel. No black screen to hold a fingerprint.

The digits sit behind the weave. Lit, they come through cool white and slightly soft, with the grid of the cloth across every bar. Stand close and you can see the threads over the numbers.

It keeps time and it wakes you. A small alarm mark sits at the top right of the display. The setting buttons run along the left edge of the base, clear of the phone.

The watch dock lifts off and goes with you

The block on the right is not fixed. Lift it and it comes away whole, leaving a hollow in the base.

It carries its own socket, so a cable runs it anywhere. Pack that instead of a watch puck and an earbud lead. The hotel nightstand holds one small block.

The station keeps working without it. The phone pad sits on the other half of the base.

Why not the plain pad

A flat pad costs fifteen dollars and charges a phone. That is the whole of it.

Nothing to look at, so it lies on the nightstand as a dark disc with a lead running off it. No clock, so the phone stays in the room to tell you the time. No light, so you still hunt for the switch in the dark.

This replaces all three. The lamp gives three levels, from a glow you can leave on all night up to something you can read by.

Which of the three to pick

Nothing changes between the colors except the color, and one thing that follows from it.

Black is black the whole way through, cloth included. The digits float on a dark face and the whole thing disappears at night. Green is a muted gray-green, closer to olive than emerald. White is a flat warm white. Both carry the same light gray cloth front.

So Black reads as one solid thing. The other two read as two-tone. Pick on the room. Then put all three devices down on it at night and stop looking for a cable in the morning.
