Christmas Lantern Wreath with Poinsettias, Baubles and Bow, Red or Gold

A round Christmas wreath built around a small black lantern that glows warm in its center, with poinsettias across the top, one side packed with baubles and a full bow at the bottom. It comes in three styles, two in red and one in gold, and at about 16 inches across it suits an interior door, the wall above a mantel or a window.

A lantern in the middle, so the wreath has a light of its own

Most wreaths are a ring with a hole in it, and once the hall light goes off they fade into the door. This one sets a black-framed lantern at the bottom of the opening, just above the bow, with an LED light inside it. It gives off a soft amber glow that warms the flowers above it and the door behind it, so the wreath still holds the eye as the evening draws in.

On the Red and Gold styles, small warm white lights are also threaded through the greenery on the baubled side, so the glow spreads past the lantern. The Red Berry style keeps its light to the lantern alone, where a flame-shaped bulb stands behind clear glass panes. The lights run on batteries, which are not included.

Red, Red Berry or Gold

Red is the deepest of the three. Two large red glitter poinsettias sit across the top, deep red and burgundy baubles fill the right side, and the left fans out into pale green sprigs and dark red berries. Its bow pairs a plain deep red ribbon with a sheer red one printed in a darker lace pattern, with long tails that hang below the ring. Its lantern has a frosted panel, so the light inside reads as a soft flame.

Red Berry is the brightest and the loosest. A big red velvet poinsettia crowns it, red glitter and shiny baubles crowd the right side, and long sprays of small red berries spill out past the edge of the ring on the left. The bow is deep red velvet edged in dark green, with a frosted pine sprig and a small pine cone at the knot, and its lantern is clear glass, so you can see the bulb inside.

Gold leaves the red out altogether. Three champagne-gold poinsettias sit at the top, gold and pale champagne baubles fill the right side, and the left is a mix of gold leaf sprays, small ivory balls, pine cones and green leaves. A champagne velvet bow with long tails finishes it, and it has the same frosted lantern as the Red style. It suits cream walls, natural wood, brass and the calmer rooms where red would stand out.

Made for the inside of the house

The wreath is made for indoor use, on an interior door, a wall or a window, and it has a hanging loop built in, so it goes straight onto a hook or a nail. At about 16 inches across it covers roughly half the width of a standard interior door, so the panels still show around it. It looks just as settled above a mantel or over a sideboard in the dining room, where the lantern sits close to eye level. Nothing on it dries out or drops. It packs away with the rest of the decorations and comes straight back out next winter.
