Cordless Lantern Table Lamp with Touch Dimmer, 3 Light Colors and USB C

A small lantern-style table lamp with no cord at all: a clear acrylic cylinder standing in a round metal base, inside a cage of two crossed metal arches. Switch it on and the cylinder glows at the top and the bottom while the middle stays clear, so the light looks like it is held inside the glass rather than shining out of a shade.

It runs on a rechargeable battery and charges by USB-C, so it goes on the dining table, the nightstand or a shelf across the room without a cable running anywhere. A tap on the top of the base changes the light color, and holding a finger there dims it.

A lamp that goes where the evening is

Most table lamps are decided by the nearest outlet, which is why the one by the sofa never seems to end up where you are actually sitting. This one has no plug. Charge it, then carry it by the cage to the middle of the dinner table, to the bedside for an hour of reading, or to the kitchen counter for drinks after dark.

At 6.9 inches tall and 3.5 inches across, it takes up about as much room as a paperback stood on end. That leaves space for plates and glasses on a table, and for a phone and a book beside the bed. The cage is the handle, so moving it from one room to the next is one hand and one second.

Tap for the color, hold for the brightness

The touch area is the dark ring on top of the base, just inside the four legs. Tap it once for a warm 3000K glow, again for a neutral 4500K, and again for a crisp 6000K white. One more tap turns it off. Press and hold, and the light fades smoothly anywhere from 5% to full.

Warm and low is the setting for dinner and the end of the evening. The white is for reading. On a full charge it gives about 8 hours at full brightness and up to 12 hours dimmed, and the USB-C port on the side of the base takes the cable that comes in the box. A small non-slip pad underneath keeps it from sliding on a polished table.

Black, gold or silver

The base and the cage come in one of three metal finishes, and the clear cylinder is the same on all of them. Black is a soft satin black that suits a dark wood table, a modern kitchen or a study with a lot of black in it already. Gold is a brushed warm gold that picks up the glow of the light and looks at home with brass, walnut and candlelight. Silver is a brushed satin silver that stays cool and quiet beside white, gray and stone.

Every finish looks just as good switched off in daylight as it does lit at night, so it earns its place on the table before the sun goes down too.
