Most electric brushes give you one button and a number of clicks. Two for the gentle one, three for the next. You learn the sequence, you forget it by Thursday, and after that you only ever use the first setting.

The five names are molded down the front of this one: white, clean, sensitive, polish and massage. You read the list, then you press. Nothing to remember and nothing to count.

Rated IPX7, so it can go in the shower

Most brushes are splash resistant, and you find out where the limit is at the wrong moment. This one carries an IPX7 rating. That is a tested grade, not a word somebody wrote on a box.

So brush in the shower if that suits your morning. Rinse the whole handle under the tap afterward, head and all, and put it down wet.

Why not the cheap electric one

The ten dollar brush on the supermarket shelf cuts four corners, and you meet every one of them.

It runs on disposable cells, so it fades for two weeks before you work out why. It has one speed. The head is part of the brush, so when the bristles splay you throw the motor away with them. And it seals against splashes rather than water, so a rinse under the tap usually finishes it.

This one recharges. Five modes, a head that pulls off, and a rating that lets you hold it under the tap.

Four heads and a case, in the box

The head pushes onto the top of the handle and pulls straight off again. Four come in the box: one fitted and three spare. One of the spares wears a clear snap-on cap over the bristles.

The case is a hard black clamshell with a molded cradle inside it. The brush lies down in there with a head still on, so nothing comes apart before you pack.

Start it and it runs for two minutes, marking every thirty seconds along the way, then stops on its own. Put it down when it stops. Nothing else about it asks anything of you.
