The face is in two halves and the light is the join

The body is one plain cylinder until you take hold of the cord and lift, and then it comes apart into an upper half and a lower half that stay linked in the middle. Where the two meet, each edge is cut into a rounded wave, like the drip line running around a candle. Pull them apart and a band of light opens all the way around, with the two wavy edges reading as a top and bottom jaw, and the eyes and nose cut through the upper half lighting up at the same time.

It charges, so October is not a battery run

The battery is built in and there is no compartment, no door and nothing to unscrew. A USB-C socket sits in the body, and the cell behind it holds 1800 mAh. You charge it the same way you charge everything else in the house. A cable is not included.

That is the difference between this and the flickering plastic tea lights people buy by the bagful every fall. Those take a coin cell you cannot find in the drawer, they get dimmer through the evening, and by November they are in the bin. This one goes back on charge.

Shut, it is about the size of an orange

Press the two halves back together and the wave closes into a single fine seam, and what you are holding is a smooth cylinder 3.1 inches tall and 3 inches across. That is the whole point of the folding, and it is the part nobody thinks about in October.
