A woven rattan fruit bowl raised on a short flared foot, with a soft wavy rim that sets it apart from every plain bowl on the counter. Heap it with oranges and a bunch of grapes, put it in the middle of the table, and it reads as a centerpiece rather than the place the fruit happened to land.
It comes in three sizes, and each one is sold on its own. Pick the size that suits your counter, or choose two for different rooms.
A footed bowl looks like it was put there on purpose
Most fruit ends up in whichever bowl was free, sitting flat on the worktop with the bananas leaning against the kettle. A pedestal changes the whole picture. The foot lifts the bowl clear of the surface, so the fruit sits up where you can see what is ripe, the counter stays clear around the base, and from across the room the outline is the bowl's own: a wide woven curve on a slim waist.
The rim finishes the look. Instead of a hard, level edge it rises and falls in a few soft, broad, slightly uneven waves, which makes the bowl feel relaxed and natural rather than pressed out of a mold. A pile of apples, lemons or pears settles into that shape and looks generous.
Real rattan, woven close
Rows of small slanted stitches wrap around the bowl from the bottom of the foot to the top of the rim, so the whole wall carries a fine zigzag texture that catches the light from the window. The top edge is bound over in fine strands, which leaves it rounded and soft under your hand. Look inside and the floor is woven in rings that spiral out from a single point at the center.
The color is a warm honey brown with darker strands running through it and a few paler ones, so no two bowls look printed from the same sheet. It sits easily beside oak, white marble, stone, linen and black steel, and it warms up a kitchen that is mostly white or gray.
Three sizes, each sold on its own
The Small suits a coffee corner, a desk or an entry table, where it holds a few lemons, a handful of clementines, or your keys and wallet at the end of the day. The Medium is the everyday kitchen size for apples, oranges and a bunch of grapes. The Large belongs in the middle of a dining table or a kitchen island, heaped high with fruit or lined with a cloth for bread rolls.
All three share the same weave, wavy rim, foot and color, and every order is a single bowl in the size you choose, with the exact measurements in the specifications below. Buy more than one and they stack inside each other when they are not in use. Give the fruit a bowl that looks like it belongs on the table.
