Made for smooth surfaces, and honest about it

Adhesive needs something flat and even to grip. A smoothly painted wall or a cabinet or wardrobe door gives it that, and that is where these belong. Textured plaster, chalk paint and porous surfaces do not, because the back never sits fully flat against them, so they are best left for a screw-in hook.

Clean the spot, make sure it is completely dry, and press the plate on firmly. That small bit of preparation is what gives the adhesive its best start.
