Hydrogen does not keep, which is the entire reason this thing exists

Dissolved hydrogen gas leaves water. It starts leaving the moment it goes in, it leaves faster once the bottle is opened or the water is shaken about, and nothing in a can or a jug or a bottle stops it. That is why a case of hydrogen water bought in March is a different proposition from a glass poured a minute ago.

Making it in the vessel you drink from takes that whole problem off the table. There is no window between the machine and the glass, because there is no machine and there is no second glass. You make 420 ml, which is roughly what a person drinks in one sitting, and then you make some more when you want some more.

You can see it working, which almost none of them let you do

Most of this category is sold in opaque steel. You press a button, a light comes on, and you take the rest on trust.

The barrel here is clear from the lid down to the base, so the cycle is visible from the outside. Press the button and fine bubbles build across the floor of the chamber and up the inside of the wall, larger ones break away and rise, and the water goes faintly milky as it fills with bubbles too small to pick out. Three minutes later it settles back to clear. It is a small thing and it changes how the object feels to own, because you are looking at the process rather than at an indicator light.

What it is, and what it is not

This is worth being plain about before you order rather than after. It generates hydrogen. It does not clean water.

It is not a filter and it is not a purifier. It will not remove anything, it will not make questionable water safe, and it is not a substitute for a filter. What goes in is what you get back, with dissolved hydrogen added to it, so it wants plain potable drinking water — the tap or the filter jug you already use. Keep hot water, carbonated water, juice and anything else that is not water out of it, and keep the charging area dry.

Everything else about it is deliberately ordinary. One button, one cycle, a rechargeable battery, and no straw to clean. You fill it, you press it, and in three minutes you drink it.
