Rings of color woven into the cloth

Look across the quilt and the pattern reads as a row of overlapping fans. Each one is built from many thin curved lines, and the two colors alternate from fan to fan, dark rings on a light ground in one and light rings on a dark ground in the next.

Because it is a jacquard weave, every ring is made of colored threads rather than ink. Up close you can see the texture of the yarn in each line, and from across the room the whole thing settles into a calm, rippling pattern that suits a plain bed or a simple room.

Four layers of muslin, and nothing stuffed inside

No padding, no synthetic fill. The quilt is four layers of 100% cotton gauze, an open weave that lets air through, so you stay covered without the heavy, sealed-in feel of a thicker comforter.

The layers give it a soft, slightly puckered surface and enough body to fall in loose folds over the side of the mattress. The small size weighs about 2.4 pounds and the largest about 4 pounds.

Turn it over and the colors swap

A wide striped band runs around all four sides. On the front it is solid gray with two thin lines of color, and on the back it turns the other way around, solid color with gray lines, while the rings carry on across the reverse. A narrow gray binding finishes the very edge. Fold a corner back over the foot of the bed and both sides look right.

Yellow pairs a soft mustard with charcoal gray, the warmest of the three. Coral is a dusty rose-orange against gray, gentle rather than bright, and Gray is a quiet mix of pale and mid gray for a room that already has plenty of color.
